Sitges remains one of the quintessential Spanish, and for that matter, European gay Summer destination.
It is easy to reach from Barcelona either on a day trip or for a longer stay.
Sitges has kept its small town charm and the few bigger hotels are really not that big and do not ruin the feeling. Given the relatively limited amount of hotel rooms, Sitges never feels overrun and is nicely laid back, especially during the week.
Gay people mix effortlessly in this small town with the locals and straight vacationers.
Berlin has three gay saunas: Gate, Apollo and Boiler.
Last night, walking around Vienna, I happened by chance on the entrance of the Frisco Sauna in Vienna.
I had heard the rumours that it had been closed down or bought up, but as it turned out, this has become the Rőmer sauna.
For some reason, I always had a fixation about the stargayte sauna in Leipzig, without ever having visited. Many years, back, I had seen their ad in which they billed themselves as Germany’s biggest gay sauna, and it made it sound like some really exciting, big place to have fun in.
Well, last Christmas I decided to travel to Dresden and took a side trip to Leipzig to see what the truth was.
Over the Christmas holidays, I took some time of to visit the two big saunas in Prague.
As they say, Magnum sauna is not the only sauna in europe worth visiting.
A few weeks ago, I returned to my hometown of Lausanne, Switerland and visited the Pink beach sauna which oppened in 1989.
Considering that Lausanne is not a very big city, the Pink Beach is quite big with, if I remember correctly, 1500 sqm to have fun in and relax. They advertise as the biggest in Switzerland.
A few days ago, as I finished speaking to another interior designer about doing some work in the sauna, I had to face it, I simply don’t have the foggiest what I want my little Magnum to look like.
Sure enough, looking at pictures from ten years ago and today, the caption’We’ve come a long way baby’ is fitting. Still, it’s like everything I do in life, chaotic, on the spot, or delayed for ever.
This got me thinking about my personal experiences in other saunas. And sure enough, each business, each place, I’ll have an opinion within seconds of having walked around in it.
